Biography:
Born and bred in Busan till the age of 8, Taecyeon spent most of his teenage years in Boston Massachusetts when the entire family upped and moved in favor of his father's business venture. The second and youngest child of a middle class family, he had the usual trappings of a good life. While his parents were strict with Taecyeon and his sister, they were nevertheless reluctantly given the freedom to pursue their own interests after that one time the siblings planned a concerted effort to ruin their piano recital.
In high school, Taecyeon proved himself an all rounder - scoring grades that put him in a high percentile as well as excelling on the soccer pitch and in the boxing ring.
This illusion of a fantastic life was soon shattered when Taecyeon realised how god damn boring his life was becoming. While he was good at what he did, he wasn't excited by any of it. That was till a friend of his sister introduced him to the fine art of turntablism.
It started with messing with aforementioned friend's equipment, till he could afford his own deck. Time passed and through sheer force of will, Taecyeon maintained his grades and was soon faced with two milestone events: high school graduation and going to college.
The former was easy breezy, and Taecyeon graduated with credentials that satisfied his parents. The latter, however, left him in a bind. Once again, Taecyeon wasn't sure what the hell he wanted to do. The inevitable talk about college with his father led to a year long estrangement, which he spent working odd jobs ranging from mechanic to pool boy to support his hobby. It was shortly before Taecyeon's 18th birthday that his father made his final offer: fuck off to Seoul to attend his alma mater or leave home for good.
And so Taecyeon went. His father arranged for him to live with his wife's sisters's family, which suited him just fine. In his first year at Yonsei, Taecyeon followed his father's footsteps and cemented his place in AGR.
Given his charisma/shamelessness and position as a member of notable fraternity, Taecyeon integrated himself into the nightlife scene easily enough, eventually landing smaller DJing gigs in Hongdae. It wasn't till his sophomore year that he gained enough noteriety for his shirtless antics to become one of the resident DJs at Octagon in Gangnam under the moniker Jimseung.
At the start of senior year Taecyeon divided his time between classes and work, making time for parties whenever a good one rolled round. During semester break, he returned to Boston and managed to resolve things with his strict father. By this time Taecyeon had acquired an internship with SK Marketing, and upon his return to Seoul began his internship in earnest.
Initially the usual waterboy intern in the office, Taecyeon gained attention for his shameless nature and got his break standing in for a model. Outspoken and glib, his manaager placed him in modeling jobs for their clients, which earned him a reputation of sorts. While he still has trouble dressing himself, when in the hands of experts Taecyeon manages to pull off couture looks that earned him a place as more than just 'that tall intern'.
Traveling for work ensued, and he had no choice but to quit his job as a resident at Octagon to accommodate his new schedule. Ever ready to adapt, Taecyeon took on his new role as model easily enough, even if he does miss his work as a DJ, and will sometimes still spin at Octagon as a guest.
It was a month or two before he could finally keep his feet on the ground and step up as vice president of AGR. No longer a regular at Octagon, Taecyeon was also finally able to spend time with his brothers.
Present day Taecyeon juggles his time between work, his fraternity and his boxers. He's a regular at the gym and as captain of the boxing team can often be found going a few rounds. He's on the look out for his successor at captain of the boxing team, and wants to cherish his every moment as a student of Yonsei.
Whatever else:
- Good with his hands; Taecyeon picked up a few talents from his days as a mechanic.
- Intrinsic love affair with cats; he'll pet your kitty anyday.
- Drives his sister's Audi R8
- Keeps a lost and found box of sorts containing all the weird stuff people have left at the DJ booth when he spins (mobile phones, clothing, a rubber ducky, etc).
- A social smoker; given his working environment it's hard not to be.
- Fluent in English and Korean; will revert to the former when the latter lacks the right words to express himself and vice versa.
- His older sister Jihyen was a Zeta who graduated the year Taecyeon entered Yonsei. She promised that he'd have nothing but hot girls as sorority sisters, little did he expect that what she really meant was that half of them would dip him in acid any time of the day.
